Does anyone know where the oil filter is on a vstar 650 Yamaha? just got this one and cant find filter?

you've got to remove the front exhaust pipe to change your oil filterDoes anyone know where the oil filter is on a vstar 650 Yamaha? just got this one and cant find filter?
Yup. The little cover with 3 bolts on it. Right under the front exhaust pipe. Nice bike, but a pain in the butt to maintain!

May as well figure out how to do valve adjustments too since you need to check 'em every 4000 miles!

If you're a do it yourselfer, buy a clymer manual for it. The best 30 bucks you'll invest in your bike!Does anyone know where the oil filter is on a vstar 650 Yamaha? just got this one and cant find filter?
As has been said, behind the front header pipe.

While you've got the header loose to get at that dad-burned filter... go get an oil filter 'relocator' kit. It will allow you to swap the filter without having to mess around with the exhaust system in the future.
Yup. What he said. Behind the front exhaust pipe is a round cover. The clever engineers at Yamaha hid it behind there...
The oil filter change is not a two minutes operation, to change the filter is hard to get to since you have to remove parts of the exhaust system to get to it is not fun. But the Bike is ausome. I have had good luck getting parts from http://www.powerpartsplus.com tried a few others but I am sticking with PPP
