Oil filter location saturn 1996?

Been looking a long time, cannot find the location of the oil filter on a 1996 Saturn sl sedan, anyone?..ThanksOil filter location saturn 1996?
It's located on the passenger's side of the car, just anterior (front) of the axle. It can only be accessed from underneath the car (You'll have to jack it up). If you're underneath the car, you can look straight up from the oil pan, and you'll probably see the butt end of the filter sticking out a bit. I'll see if I can find some links for you with photos. I'm actually pretty sure I posted a similar answer to your question before. I'll update shortly.

Here's an answer I wrote previously:

Included in that answer are a good number of posts from other Saturnfans.com Members.

This one has great photos (jump down a few posts to get to the oil change section, again, great photos):

When you remove the oil filter, it can be quite messy... this member cut up an oil container, which allows all the dribble from the oil filter area to drain into the drain pan you have for your oil drainage:

If you don't know your jacking points on your Saturn, this one is great, courtesy of Autozone:

Good luck to you.

P.S. I take it back about access only under the car. The other way is to remove the passenger side wheel and splash guard (but that tends to be more work than just jacking up the car alone).Oil filter location saturn 1996?
Thanks, I will stop cussing now.... Report Abuse

Should be on the right lower side of the engine. If any doubt go to your local auto zone or Kragen etc and they will show you for free.
To the left and behind the engine. Towards the back of the car not the front.
