How do i change my oil filter on my 1997 1.8 automatic vw golf myself?

drop the engine undertray and locate the sump bolt, undo that and catch dirty oil in a contain of some sort, flush engine through with an engine flush. replace sump bolt and undertray, look at front of engine and there's a big round canister protrudeing from the engine, you need to unscrew that and withdraw it, replace with new oil filter, wiping some oil on the rubber seal befor screwing it back onto the engine, fill up the engine with a good quality oil.job doneHow do i change my oil filter on my 1997 1.8 automatic vw golf myself?
If you don't know, then invest in a Haynes manual - you'll get the money back the first time you use it.

i agree go buy the manual on the car

but really a oil filter is as simple as find it unscrew it and replace

be sure to coat the rubber seal on the filter with a little fresh motor oil
locate it, unscrew it, replace it.
